 Nobel Peace Film Course
at
Duke University

INSTRUCTOR: SARAH HAMILTON

This course is available at Duke University in 2024 in partnership with Nobel Peace Laureate-led nonprofit PeaceJam, the award-winning Nobel Legacy Film Series. This course highlights seven Nobel Peace Laureates biographical documentaries and their worldwide peace initiatives. This course will increase awareness of global peace initiatives, build cross-cultural understanding, and engage students to become ambassadors of peace in their own community.

Participants will engage in a special Q & A with award-winning Nobel Legacy Film Director Dawn Gifford Engle. The Nobel Legacy Film Series documentaries premier annually at the Monte Carlo Festival and have won hundreds of international awards including Best Picture and Best Documentary. 

The course is facilitated by Sarah Hamilton, the author of two of Official Film Guides for Study & Discussion for Dalai Lama: Scientist and Shirin Ebadi: Until We Are Free. The Film Guides have have been distributed to over 1.3 million individuals worldwide. Sarah has also served as an advisor to Nobel Peace Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his daughter Thandeka Tutu's nonprofit TutuDesk Campaign.
